HawKar at the VAGARUN Half-Marathon in Béja: A Human & Inspiring Experience
Breaking Barriers: HawKar Champions Inclusive Mobility at VAGARUN Semi-Marathon in Béja

At HawKar, we believe that mobility is not just about getting from point A to point B, it’s about freedom, independence & the fundamental right to participate fully in society. This belief took center stage during our recent participation in the symbolic opening of the VAGARUN Semi-Marathon in Béja, organized by Kromberg et Schubert, where we proudly showcased our innovative EYAS electric assistance wheels alongside persons with disabilities, demonstrating that barriers exist only to be broken.
A Mission-Driven Moment
The opening ceremony of the VAGARUN Semi-Marathon provided the perfect platform to highlight our commitment to inclusive mobility. As runners prepared to cover 21 kilometers through the scenic routes of Béja, we were honored to participate in a powerful demonstration of what’s possible when innovation meets determination. Our team equipped a person using wheelchair with our EYAS assistance system to take part in the symbolic opening, a moment that perfectly encapsulated our vision of “mobility for all!”
HawKar proudly took part in the VAGARUN Half-Marathon in Béja, organized by Kromberg et Schubert, a company committed to inclusion. We presented our electric assistance kit, designed to facilitate movement for users of traditional wheelchairs by significantly reducing physical effort. This event was a powerful opportunity to demonstrate how technology can turn everyday challenges into real opportunities for independence, as we joined other passionate participants to support a cause close to our hearts: Inclusion!
The EYAS Solution: Revolutionizing Wheelchair Mobility
The EYAS electric assistance wheels transform manual wheelchairs into powerful mobility solutions, allowing users to experience the freedom to go farther and faster while conserving their energy. This innovative kit represents years of research and development focused on one simple yet profound goal: Making independence accessible to everyone!
What makes EYAS unique is its modular design. The electric assistance system can be easily mounted on standard mechanical wheelchairs, eliminating the need for bulky specialized equipment. Users can travel greater distances with less physical strain, opening up new possibilities for social participation.
Our collaboration with ACTIA, whose electric ebike assistance technology has found a new life-changing application in our wheelchair kit, demonstrates how innovation can transcend its original purpose to create meaningful social impact.
Inspiring Encounters and Meaningful Connections
This unique occasion gave us the chance to meet children from the Béja Vocational Training & Apprenticeship Center. Their motivation & zest for life were truly inspiring for our entire team. One of the children had the opportunity to try our electric assistance kit Eyas, a memorable & moving moment for us all.
Beyond the technical demonstration, our participation reflected a message of hope and solidarity. We aim to send a powerful message to younger generations: despite obstacles, success & innovation are within reach. HawKar is proud to help reshape norms & promote a more inclusive society, one that is accessible to all.
Corporate Social Responsibility in Action
Our participation in the VAGARUN Semi-Marathon represents more than just a product demonstration, it’s a testament to our commitment to CSR. By choosing to highlight disability inclusion at a major sporting event, we’re challenging societal perceptions & advocating for a more inclusive vision of community participation.
HawKar’s vision extends beyond serving people with disabilities; it aims to democratize mobility & contribute to the development of the smart cities of tomorrow. Our presence at the semi-marathon aligns perfectly with this broader mission, showcasing how assistive technology can be seamlessly integrated into mainstream community events.
The Power of Inclusive Sports
Sports have always been a powerful medium for social change & events like the VAGARUN Semi-Marathon provide invaluable opportunities to normalize disability inclusion. By participating in the opening start run, we demonstrated that with the right support & technology, physical limitations do not define one’s potential for participation & achievement.
The enthusiasm & determination displayed by the wheelchair user during the opening ceremony served as a powerful reminder that what we often take for granted, the ability to move freely & participate in community events, should be accessible to all members of society.

The EYAS system is more than just a product, it’s a bridge to independence, a tool for empowerment & a symbol of what’s possible when we refuse to accept limitations.
